Each year the Washington Business Journal selects 25 "Women Who Mean Business."  These women are considered the most influential and powerful women in Washington.  Four of the Women Who Mean Business work in the Dulles Corridor and will be part of a panel discussion lead by Cynthia de Lorenzi, class of 2006.  These women will offer business tips and insight on how they grew their businesses.  
 About the women:
 
Homaira Akbari - Class of 2008 - Dr. Akbari is currently CEO of Skybitz the fastest growing business in Virginia.  She has held senior management positions at Microsoft, Thales, Cambridge Strategic Management Group, and worked as a scientist at CERN.  She holds a PhD with honors in particle physics from Tufts University, and an MBA with distinction from Carnegie Mellon University.  She is the author of more than 50 scientific articles and serves as a judge at the MIT $100K business Plan Competition.

Kristina Bouweiri - Class of 2004 - Ms. Bouweiri is CEO of Reston Limousine, the nation's capitol's largest transportation company.  She grew the company from 5 cars to 150 cars in ten years and is award winning business woman.  She has a degree in International Affairs from George Washington University and travelled the world as a child born to parents in the US Foreign Service.

Frances Craig - Class of 2006 - Ms. Craig is CEO of Unanet one of the original designers of web based time sheets.  Ms. Craig has lead I. T. organizations for Carnegie Melon University, GTE Telenet and DHL.  She lead the development of the first worldwide tracing and tracking system used by DHL.  She is active in the professional community and served on President Bill Clinton's Advisory Committee for Expanding Training Opportunities.

Marissa Levin - Class of 2006 - Ms. Levin is CEO of Information Experts.  An instructional designer by education, a business leader and strategist by trade, and a marketer by temperament, IE founder, Marissa Levin is a leading proponent of the integrated communications vision.  She speaks and writes on the subject extensively and leads IE organizationally on key strategies and solutions for integrating communications for organizations across a wide range of vertical markets.

Cynthia de Lorenzi - Class of 2006 - Ms. de Lorenzi is the Founder and former CEO of the North Texas Technology Council, headquartered in Dallas, TX.  In 2002, following the unexpected death of her brother, Cynthia moved to the Washington, DC area to take over as CEO for her brother's Internet Service Provider company, PatriotNet.  During her tenure as CEO of PatriotNet she founded Success in the City (SITC) a women's social networking organization.  SITC is now recognized as one of the pre-eminent social networking organizations for senior level executive women.  Cynthia is also involved in several other related businesses, including Success in the City TV, Pink Collar Ink and a new cable television show, Pink Collar Perspectives.
