Of Personal Note: Steven Gaffney was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2009. He has been cancer-free for about 5 months. At age three, Steven barely spoke. Advised to put him in special classes for slow children, his mother refused and worked with doctors to discover Steven’s delay was caused by multiple ear infections. After several operations, and with speech therapy, Steven began speaking. No one has been able to silence him since.
